Salvatore Ferragamo in Carbon Fiber

She is a new addition to my collection and a complete accident. I wanted a project bag for a while. To see how I can restore something neglected. But I have never thought about a bag in… Carbon fiber.
And man was she neglected. Scratched up CF, dirt, blacked out letters on the handles (with a sharpie! Blasphemous!), sad and very dry leather on the handle. The interior was intact. Surprisingly. Some elbow grease and car detailing chemicals later she is almost 90% brand new.
I cleaned and conditioned the leather to help it straighten up and hung her on the hook to return to the original shape. Carbon was polished and protected from UV as well. I cleaned up sharpie with a non acetone nail polish remover and polished the aluminum part of the handles (had to unscrew them).

Overall, I am very happy with the result and she gets to live her best life with a new twilly that is on the way.

Carbon fiber bag: Detailed (update)

Hi guys. So I got some good advice here and thought to come back and show what the final result is. I used Sonax OS 02|06 , renew & restore wipes by TurtleWax and Colourlock Smooth Leather Care Kit (for the leather handle)

What I worked with: scratched (deep and not really) carbon fiber, sharpie over silver engraving on the metal part of the handle, deformed and dry leather handle.
What I did: cleaned up the surface, polished deeper scratches with the TurtleWax wipe, cleaned with microfiber , applied Sonax manually as I do not have a machine (yet?), removed sharpie with gentle nail polish remover, cleaned and polished the metal parts (again Sonax), cleaned the leather with Colourlock foam and applied their conditioner to protect from UV lights.

Carbon fiber restoration and protection for a bag

Hi all
Please don’t hate me. But I need a recommendation on what products to use to manually clean up and polish and protect my new vintage carbon fiber bag (handles are aluminum)

Preferably something to protect her from the sun that wouldn’t transfer to my clothes with time. Any recommendations are welcome since I am too afraid to screw her up

I tried some gentle clean and polish for light scratches but there is still a lot of minor scratches and deeper ones. The fiber is not showing tho. Coating seems to be solid and thick.

GV70 2.5 SP 2026 2777 miles on it.
In case someone would be interested. I drove in total 4 hours plus some time around the town - around 295 miles. Average consumption was 23-24 mpg. I left with 93% of the tank and came back home with 8%. Comfort mode. 93 premium gas. $67 to refill to full.

Overall very pleased with the experience as the car felt nice and comfortable in difficult weather conditions (pouring rain non stop for almost 2 hrs, flooded areas, strong winds in some areas) and it was very quiet inside.
She came back home almost clean (except for the rear part lol).

In my opinion taking into consideration weather conditions gas mileage was great. And we didn’t buy her for the gas mileage anyway 😆
