Thanks for being a nice community

I’m in on the joke. I know my taste is “different.” I brought this bag to a bar in midtown, and a woman approached me and asked why I was carrying cherries. I said “it’s my purse.” I think she felt sorry for me and said “can I give you a hug?” I said sure. This woman hugged me and then whispered, as if she was offering advice/criticism/a secret (?), “People… probably think that you’re weird.” And my gut reaction was to blurt out “I hope they do!” And then she hugged me harder as if she were in on the joke, too. Anyway, that’s an interaction from December that I had that sticks with me and reminds me how nice this community is. Every now and again I get called “childish” here, (oh no- to have the fun, the whimsy, and the innocence of a child!) but for the most part everyone is just nice. So thanks for that. I love your Loewe, Gucci, Fendi, Goyard, Loungefly, Rommy De Bommy, and Purple Banana. You all are a lovely inclusive bunch ❤️

Not what I thought I’d be coming home with today! Feeling very lucky and happy

We went for a look round the shops today and I was hoping I’d find a dark brown bag - I had a vision of something more like the Bayswater soft in Ebony for colour, but I didn’t think I’d be going to Mulberry. My searching had been extensive, online and in person, but without success. When airing my thoughts on the search to my husband, I said I was feeling grumpy about it all, everything I’d liked at all was wildly expensive, and I resented the idea of paying Mulberry prices or much more for something that didn’t bring me joy as much as fill a gap in an underwhelming way - I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I have quite a few Mulberry bags from over the years, including an oversize Alexa in grey, which I love, but is a work bag for size. We’re going on holiday (Paris) next week, but I needed to meet this bag need in advance of going, to unlock various outfits, if that makes sense 😄 so I couldn’t wait long enough to see what Paris had to offer.

When we went past the Mulberry shop, the door was open (it has been shut plus guards in the past, not sure what kind of risks they were guarding against that had passed, but maybe they decided to let I. a little spring air) and I thought - knowing the contents of the website pretty well - there was nothing that would actually work for me.

I picked up the Bayswater satchel and was really confused - I mistook it for an Alexa and couldn’t understand why it seemed bigger than the mini but smaller than the standard. The SA kindly explained and said I could compare it with the Alexas upstairs - I did. The first four photos I’ve shared are of the mini, which is what I bought in the end, and the fifth is standard size Alexa. The SA was super helpful, talking me through the different leathers. I looked at the Islington bucket bag, which is a stiffer leather, and the Bayswater satchel, which had a vegan tanning process and would discolour more over time, apparently.

By this stage I was already hooked on an Alexa, and texted my husband to say this 😄. I wasn’t sure about which one, but asked to take out the padding papers from inside both to compare how they stand without it, as that is how I’d take them abroad. Both managed well, looking very good without extra support, but then the SA suggested I pop my things in and see which worked best. I’m pretty good with spatial awareness usually, but I felt like I’d seen an illusion - my big set of car key, house key etc plus phone just disappeared into the mini! I couldn’t believe it. By this time I’d lured the family back to help me decide and my husband, being a practical sort, had already texted back to say maybe the bigger one would be more useful, but he was surprised too - you could have an umbrella, a charging block and a novel in there too, if you chose each well, or a bottle of water or a big sunglasses case… sold on the little one!! I think maybe if I was still the parent of someone quite small, and needed to take all the accompanying toys, wipes etc, the standard size Alexa would have been perfect. But as it is, my child looked down at me and agreed that this was definitely the right choice - much less “I’m a practical woman with everything in this bag” and more “I’m going shopping with my cute little bag” vibes!

Huge write up to say my collection has grown again, and although I’d wanted an Oak Alexa for a while I’d feared the standard to be too big and the mini too small - happy day to be wrong!! 🥰

Prada Aimee Medium! I hadn’t seen this bag in person before ordering and fell in love 10x more when I opened it. I know some people think this bag is a bit boring/uninspired but I love it so much and know I will use it forever! 18 weeks today and I’ve been quickly getting too big to fit in most of my favourite clothes, while maternity pants are still way too big 🙄Because of this have not been feeling all that cute lately, thankful for this beauty to cheer me up a bit ❤️

Airport carry: functional but still stylish — thoughts?

Is it just me or is airport travel super hard because you have to settle on only one or two bags that will work for the whole trip? This time around I went for my Louis Vuitton Diane bag in brume/quartz. I’m heading to The Masters and wanted something hands-free but still elevated enough to pull my outfits together.

It holds all my essentials and is easy to move through the airport with. It’s also small enough to fit in my personal item when I have to consolidate.

The outfit is my airport uniform: wide-leg denim, graphic tee, blazer. That’s it. That’s the fit. Not much to it, but it works every time.

I know nothing about handbags. Any advice on the value or safe places to sell it?

I read the rules and will not sell it to anyone here.

WAS a Goyard skeptic. Not anymore.

I had posted about St Louis vs Artois vs Anjou on this community last year asking for suggestions and what to go for! When I was in SF in September last year I bought this!

Waited months to post this cause I know there is a lot of debate on its value. What I can say now with conviction:

- it’s such an easy going bag.

- can suit for work, a casual picnic at the park, travel trip airport or otherwise. The versatility is unbeatable

- no need to baby this bag at all. Absolute low maintenance

- I have some marks on the inside white canvas. Have to try and wipe it but am lazy too.

I decided to go for this bag at the store cause St Louis was too unstructured for my purpose. This bag holds shape no matter the amount of content. St Louis holds shape only when full which is very rare for me. Anjou also is non structured for the medium and big size and Anjou also has shorter straps in the medium size. While the zip is an added bonus but wasn’t really a consideration for me as I don’t need to worry about safety where I live. (Also, St Louis can give the plasticky vibes which Artois and Anjou doesn’t give).

Till date, this has been my most satisfying purchase. And tbh I was very very very skeptical about Goyard mainly cause 1. I had mostly seen St Louis on others and felt it looked too plasticky and 2. this community has a love-hate relationship with Goyard.

My collection is finally out of dust bags and in my new display cupboard

Spent my long weekend painting the bedroom and building a new display cupboard to house my collection. I have always kept them away in boxes or dust bags, it’s so nice to be able to see them! Looking at them all together like this I’m sensing a blue or green bag is in my future…

How are you guys funding your luxury bag collections?

I am from India, I’ve been noticing more and more people carrying luxury handbags lately in India and globally, and not just one, but multiple! I’m genuinely curious how people are affording them.

Is it smart financial planning, hunting deals, duty free, buying thrifted/ pre loved or anything else.

All tips, hacks, and honest answers welcome!

The weird Dior bag is here...

To answer the big question...by some weird design around physics, it does not tip forward and has a really good magnetic closure.

Overall review, it's different, functional and I like it. :) Honestly, it's more functional than the saddle bag!

Sadly disappointed 😢

I was influenced by this subreddit to purchase the Freya Estephan purse we’ve all seen on here, and I was so excited to get it. Unfortunately, upon unboxing, I found a very noticeable quality defect. I’m so bummed since I was planning on taking this on vacation on Thursday, but it looks like I’ll be returning or requesting an exchange instead. I’m not sure what I want to do quite yet as it really is a beautiful purse…

First bag purchase this year

In soft pink leather with the bright red interior and red rubber base. I have come to terms with the fact that I am just a sucker for a tote bag. This beauty is incredibly comfortable to hold ( by some marvel of design the spikes don’t come into contact with some part of me that they can pinch). She was under the spotlight, on sale and waiting for me. Louboutin large Cabata.

Am I too “old” for spikes? Probably. Do I care? Why start now.

I've gone back and forth on selling this vintage 90s beauty on, but keep stopping myself. I liked that it didn't scream 'LV' but the longer I have it the more it screams. My favourite bags are my midrange ones, eg ATP Atelier, does anyone else just feel an odd luxury brand disconnect?

*HELP ME NOT PICK THIS lol

Please tell me that someone has this and absolutely hates it so I don't buy it right now.

I always said that I would not spend more than $500 on a bag that is not full leather but I saw it on somebody on a trip and I absolutely needed it and you need to tell me that it sucks. Thank you so much. Lol!
