Deck list: https://moxfield.com/decks/5X8qtyQGsECUm1du5RIC2w

An Aikido deck that only uses permanents to redirect damage.

Basic premise:

  1. Play cheap spite damage pieces.
  2. Force vulnerable key pieces of enemies to attack to mess with their tempo (beginning of combat).
  3. Redirect damage from multiple attackers onto one card, or force high-impact trades.
  4. Recur or preserve spite damage pieces to maintain tempo.
  5. Finish by redirecting effects like [[Blasphemous Act]] or [[Dawnsire, Sunstar Dreadnought]].

Restrictions:

- No infinites.
- No indestructible (due to above).
- No goad (forcing attackers is a supporting theme).

When viewing the deck, enable tags. The main issue with the deck that I've observed is being able to keep enough of spite damage pieces in play (tagged as Aikido). My first attempt is to protect the pieces through effects that still allow damage to go through, but prevent the piece from being permanently removed (see Aikido Protect and Recursion tags).

Ultimately I'm relying on aggressive card draw & draw/discard effects to filter the deck to the pieces I need, or otherwise tutor for them. But, I am wondering if there is a strategy I may be overlooking. Or perhaps some cool combat trick permanent that I overlooked. Or even a card I may have missed.

The obvious cards I've left out are [[Brash Taunter]] and [[Stuffy Doll]], as they easily allow for infinites.

This is my first rough draft of the deck.

Basic premise:

  1. Ramp + Haste source.
  2. Cast Jeleva, attack, cast big spell, remove threats.
  3. Ramp until commander tax is affordable.
  4. Find a way to remove the Jeleva from the battlefield.
  5. Repeat from 2 until opponents are milled.

My goal with this deck is to prioritize “each player mills/exiles” effects. Target player mills effects are fine, but I want to preserve the theme of group mill a much as possible.

I wanted to avoid infinites, and wincons that aren't mill related.

I would appreciate any suggestions to improve it, while being in-line with the theme. Ideally I would like to preserve the 'no creature' aspect of the deck.

I'm particularly unsure about the planeswalkers. I've included them because another deck featuring this commander has.
