I’ve currently been playing for about 90 hours. So far, I’ve reached the investors tier, focusing on production to meet the needs of other islands (I’m currently playing in campaign mode). I made peace with the pirates and established trade with them, but is the game basically just this?
Beryl O'Mara keeps trying to take over my island through shares, and I go there and neutralize her. As for the production chain, I always produce more than the island actually needs because of the demands from other islands. In the Old World, I’m focusing more on the starting island and the island that was attacked by the fire ships (I don’t remember the character’s name — I just know they wore masks).
When should I declare war on someone? I don’t have many ships; I mostly run expeditions. I tried attacking Jean La Fortune’s island before, but I ended up losing everything. Lately, I’ve mostly just been careful with construction.
So far, that’s been my experience with the game — I’m really enjoying it. I haven’t enabled all the expansions yet: Bright Harvest, Seat of Power, and Docklands.
