Fulfilling all needs in Anno 1800 is quite the undertaking (33 needs for skyscrapers) I hope 117 would reach this lvl of complexity one day

Should I start with the base version or go straight for the Gold Edition?

Hey everyone!
I’ve played various city-building games before, but I wouldn’t say I’m an experienced player in the genre. I’ve wanted to try the Anno series for a long time, but never really got around to it. Now I saw Anno 1800 on sale and was about to buy it, but then I started wondering: should I begin with the base game, or is it better to get the Gold Edition for the DLCs?

And if I do buy the Gold Edition, should I enable all DLCs right from the start, or are there some that are better left disabled for a first playthrough?

Thanks in advance!

And there goes another addition to my showcase. After 475 hours I can finally put to rest my original campaign playthrough that I first started ever playing up until this point(If that seems like way too long, in my defense, not all of that time was dedicated to achievements but just overall learning how the game works and getting sidetracked with other stuff in the game, like creating a separate "tourist only" island.). Now I can really start playing sandbox mode now that I'm free of focusing on achievements and I can't wait to try a modded playthrough.

I have a question, however, for those that use mods, if anyone would care to answer. What is the ideal way to install mods? I know that there is an in-game browser. Is that the best way? Just want to know if it's better to install mods manually, or using an external installer, or just straight up from within the game. I play modded Skyrim so I'm used to having an installer outside the game and having to deal with load orders and conflicts. Do you simply just subscribe to mods from in game? That simple? Thanks in advance...

Trading Question

Hi Guys, I'm relatively new to Anno 1800 and the entire Anno series as a whole, so sorry if this is a dumb question. Here's the scenario, and I'm curious if someone could explain the trading mechanics.

  1. Islands A and B both use product X.

  2. Only island A is fertile, so trading must happen to supply island B with X.

  3. When setting up the trade route, how do I ensure that both islands A and B receive proper supply, instead of the trade route starving A as the supply island, and overstocking B as the receiving island?

I obviously can reduce the quantity of goods in the trade route to properly bottleneck both islands, but is there an automatic way to ensure an even distribution of goods?

Or is it just manual tinkering as you grow?

When a ship is set on a distribute route, where it loads and unloads goods based on a limit set in island storage, what happens to loading times? Logically it means it fills the storage up to the limit, because it can unload freely, but only loads when its above the limit.

Let's say, the amount of copper in Rosenstad is way above the limit, but not full. The ship already has 50t copper loaded. When it comes to trade to Rosenstad, does it actually unload and load 50t of copper?

From what it looks like, my ship comes to Rosenstad, takes an hour to load 3t of limestone, goes to Ditchwater and takes an hour to unload 3t limestone.

Extravaganza steamers

How many extravaganza steamers can I buy from Anne?

I bought one but she never put another one for sale again. Does she sell only one? Do i have to buy all the other boats for sale and then she will sell it again?

Visited my in-laws in Puerto Rico this week and it's literally ANNO 1800 here. Plantains, coffee, cocoa, and so many other trade goods!

After 160 hours of good relationships Willie chose to start dropping propaganda on my main island, I wasn't planning on wiping him out since he only has one island left in Old World. Unfortunately I've got a non aggression pact with him, but fortunately I've still got my pirate fleet which was built to take out Beryl, suppose that will be put on hold.

Is this something he always does late game?

Can Anno 1800 run well on modern Macs without GeForce NOW?

Hi everyone,

I’m seriously considering moving from Windows to macOS, but there’s one major thing holding me back: Anno 1800.
It’s one of my favorite games, and I’d really hate to lose access to it.
I know GeForce NOW is an option, but here in Brazil it can get pretty expensive if you play a lot, so I’m trying to find out whether running it locally on a modern Mac is realistic.

I’d love to hear from people using Apple Silicon Macs, especially anything around M4 / M4 Pro / M4 Max or newer.
Have you managed to run Anno 1800 through:
- Whisky
- CrossOver
- Apple Game Porting Toolkit
- another Wine-based solution

How is the actual experience?
I mean, does Ubisoft Connect work properly? Are there crashes, visual bugs, performance issues, or late-game problems? Do DLCs work fine?
Would you consider it playable, or is GeForce NOW still the only sane option?

I’m not looking for perfection, just something stable enough to keep playing without depending on a monthly cloud gaming subscription.

Any real-world feedback would be very appreciated 😄
