I was thinking - I have seen a number of artistic renditions, particularly the Valar. We have Ted Nasmith having done Aule standing above his dwarf children with a hammer, we have Ulmo arising from the sea etc etc

I saw a fan depiction of Varda, and unsurprisingly she looked like a younger, middle aged but beautiful Maggie Smith type.

The Ainur (and the Valar in particular) came before the firstborn, and therefore the secondborn as well. How come they always look human? I struggle to recognise anything elvish in these images, Ulmo and Aule both have long beards (and I would even say that Aule would have had a beard before the dwarves).

What do people think about this? Is it fair to imagine the Valar like this or should they look different? Should we be thinking that everytime they are seen they look like something / someone different?

Jed wound have been used on set for the studio shoot in Hollywood.

But was he taken to BC and used for the location shoot?

I'm pretty sure it was another dog that did the running at the start, and it looks like Jed in the scenes with Clark outside with the 'easy, easy' but it feels that could have been a studio shoot

I'm still making my way through it, but I think it's great. What things have really stood out for you?

- I like Billson's wild take on the The Thing being female, and the metaphoric implications if that were real. Then we have Issa Lopez's reaction to it!
- that they got an actual astrobiologist for the commentary, and one who speaks plainly and makes sense
- I really love just about everything that Stuart Cohen had to say. Sure I know him and his fan interaction, but just listening to him speak, listening to him push Carpenter harder and his faith in the project. I could listen to him all day!
