AITA for telling my friend we're like two friends from a TV show...?
I sent a TikTok of Steve and Robin from Stranger Things to my best friend and said that I think she's like the Robin to my Steve. If you're unfamiliar with Stranger Things somehow, Robin is a lesbian and her and Steve are probably like THE iconic BFFs on the show. The next day that friend (not my gf, mind you) texts me saying she's otp with my gf and my gf is pissed at me. I'm confused asf, and I text my gf about it asking what's wrong. She says I know what I did, that Steve liked Robin (for one season out of three, throughout which they describe themselves multiple times as best friends and "platonic with a capital P", but whatever). I told her I was sorry, but I obviously didn't mean it like that. She said "goodnight". I said, again, I'm really sorry, I said I understand why she's mad (I don't) and I feel horrible for making her upset (I do). She left me on read. She is also now mad at my friend, and hung up on her. We are both confused.
Am I the asshole?? Wtf do I do?
