Hp zbook problems

Hello guys and gals, first post here.

I own a HP Zbook firefly G8 (Iris Graphics)

I switched to linux this year and started with LMDE(as a dual boot with windows 11) but it had lot of freezes, tried to work on boot config with help of gemini and got the freezes to like 1 in 2 days till LMDE team did a kernel update like 2 weeks back. even trying the previous kernel at boot didn't help after this.

then i wiped the linux partition and installed CachyOS, same again lots of freezes that even made the desktop go monochrome and garbled when the freezes occured. at that point i i looked at what hardware does inside the laptop and found that linux actually doesn't work with the fan at all. switched to windows side of the dualboot and fan works perfectly.

now i have Linux mint 22.3 hwe and have lesser freezes again like it used to be on LMDE. but again i had to edit the grub line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT= with some help off gemini.

I think the fan still doesn't work as it does on windows. is there a way to make the fan work so it helps dissipate the heat properly?

I do know this is vendor fault(HP) that it's so rigidly built with windows on mind for corporate use and stuff.

Thank you.

My Linux mint 22.3 HWE customization so far after 3 days. was using lmde7 for a few months but it started crashing with new kernel drivers released last week for some reason (my hp zbook is extremely stubborn talking to Linux with it's bios level windows specific design).

This is just the start. Exploring the more stuff i can do and always saving a timeshift profile.

Only thing i cannot do so far is getting the bunched up updater manager and Bluetooth icon on the center of panel a bit separated. Xapp status applet is firm about keeping them that way for some reason nit allowing separators or spacers in middle. Yeah i tried other applets too. Nothing works with that so far.
