I am 31F living in the UK and have been sure I do not want kids since I was a kid myself. I asked a female GP about long term options rather than staying on hormonal contraception and she said NHS wouldn’t even consider it until I am at least mid thirties.
I don’t see why my only choices have to be:
- Contraception methods that mess with my hormones or are painful to fit/remove
- Contraception methods that can fail at preventing pregnancy
Why are our decisions not respected in the same way as those who do want to have kids. It makes me soo angry to get the same comments about it nearly every time.
What if you change your mind? No I won’t change my mind
What if you met a guy who was perfect but wanted a family? “The RIGHT man” my partner doesn’t want kids either. Even if we broke up I wouldn’t want kids with any other person.
Anything about a hypothetical future man who wants kids… totally pointless statement because he would not be someone I’d pursue a relationship with BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE KIDS!!
*edit to say this GP didn’t make these comments and was actually in agreement that it is normal and fine for some women to not want kids or have maternal instincts*
