Why was "Out of Time" such an amazing choice for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?

I remember when I saw it in theaters and that song came up. It was an odd choice because Tarantino never uses the biggest artists (Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, etc.) and of course, it was an obscure-ish Stones song. It's even a weird version of the song. But knowing Tarantino, it was a very deliberate choice.

And I can't explain why but it's so perfect for that scene. It doesn't appear to be a particularly deep song, just a fun mid '60s British Pop / Rock tune about a girl who leaves a guy and comes pitifully crawling back even though it's too little, too late. But for some reason the movie makes it feel like it's about endings. The ending of the innocent '60s and the classic Hollywood stardom as Rick knew it. The end of Rick and Cliff's professional relationship. Taken literally, maybe it's kind of foreboding re: Sharon Tate? And even just musically, it's great because it's not maudlin, it's fun and bouncy but there's a little bit of melancholy in there too, pretty much the tone Tarantino wanted to set in the third act.

What do you all think? Anyone else feel that way about the song in the movie or does anyone else just love the song? I was already a lifelong Stones fan but after Once Upon a Time, I now listen to it all the time because it feels like the perfect bittersweet goodbye to the good times.

What was the perception of U2 in the 80's, particularly in the U.S.?

For me, The Joshua Tree really sounds ahead of its time, out of step with most 1980's music that was really popular. It doesn't sound '80s to me at all compared to say Prince, Michael Jackson, Queen, Madonna, Phil Collins, The Police, Motley Crue or Guns 'N Roses. I love all of them by the way, but I can totally hear those synthesizers, that gated drum sound and all of those production techniques in a 1980's movie.

The Joshua Tree really stands apart in that sense but it was a hugely popular album and included two number one hits. Is it just me or does it seem odd that U2 was so popular the same year as Sign of the Times and Appetite For Destruction? And were they as used in movies, T.V. and other media as those other artists?

And in terms of their impact....they clearly signaled a huge shift away from 1980's arena power ballads and anthems but they don't seem to get credit for that. The more common perception is that Nirvana and other "alternative" rock bands defused the Hair Metal era but was U2 kind of considered an "Alternative" band in 1987 as well? It's worth noting that R.E.M. was also beginning to have top ten hits and they are more recognized as being forefathers of Alternative Rock.

Good guitar luthiers?

I'm looking for options for good guitar techs, preferably in 626 but I'm open to traveling outside. The more options the better since I'm currently not happy with the work I've been paying for at the moment. Would like to try someone else. Thanks for the recs ahead of time!

I always like to have Yuffie in my party because of her funny dialogue. I could have sworn that when I played it last year on my PS5, when she meets Cid and he yells at everyone, she says "Who is that guy? I'm gonna clean his clock!" after he leaves.

I'm watching someone do a stream and in that scene, she says "This sucks!" and it just happened to me too on my replay. So did I imagine that first line? I could have sworn she said that.

I have a feeling the answer is gonna be there are no good carne asada fries in the area but surely there must be some decent spots? Also open to nearby cities. I've tried both La Estrellas and they were pretty terrible. I remember Taco Spot in Eagle Rock had some decent ones. In fact apart from those and the Sunday Cafe at the Santa Anita Mall, I don't know if I've had any others...so are there any decent spots in 626?
