Hi! Just to preface, I have not received a renewable scholarship however i am in the process of applying for an in-course renewable scholarship that is specific to those going into 2nd year in my program (Stage Design & Technical Theatre). It is a small program so I think I have decent chances. However, I am on the wait list for surgery that is very likely to happen during fall semester (the window they've given me is August-November). I have spoken to my advisor and she confirmed that with the 3 weeks of recovery time, I would have defer the entire school year (due to the safety training in 2nd year).
I don't think anybody here would have a concrete answer to what would happen if I got this particular scholarship and had to defer a year, but I'm curious if anybody has experience with similar situations. If it seems likely that I would lose my scholarship, I may be able to use that to my advantage to convince the surgeon's office to try and book me before it would disrupt school (not the ideal situation but I'm looking for small upsides).
