fun classes?

I am looking to take an actual interesting class! This upcoming year I won’t be able to participate in as many extra curriculars and so I will have more free time (hopefully).

I am super into art (film, visual art, not a theatre class because that is already my major) visual media, gender and sexuality, social media, the ocean, animals, and things alike!

Preferably not a super challenging class, just because I want it to be fun and something I actually enjoy doing and learning — moderate levels of challenging are okay, just no crazy work load as I’m majoring in something thats pretty high work load already — Thanks!!

What average do I need for Dalhousie Medical Sciences?

Hello, I’m planning to apply for early admission to the Medical Sciences program and other science programs at Dalhousie next year. Would they consider my Grade 11 average and my Grade 12 marks up to the time I apply?

Right now, my Grade 11 average is hovering around 97-98. I had few meetings with my school counsellor but she doesn’t seem to know much about this program. So I genuinely have no idea what kind of grades I need to maintain in Grade 12. I’m currently a Grade 11 student in NS.

If anyone knows anything about this at all or has an advice Please let me know i’d really appreciate the help!

Musc 2024 (Guitar)

Can someone tell me if they think it’s worth taking this class since they have changed it. Everyone told me to take this as an elective since it was basically an easy A+ but I just opened the syllabus and now we are required to actually have a guitar to take the course, which was never required before and wasn’t a part of the course description when I registered. Does anyone think learning to play the guitar in three weeks is possible? And would renting one be worth it?

Financial Advice

Hello all,

I just finished my first year at Dalhousie (BSc- undeclared) and ended with a GPA of 4.21 between both semesters. However, I failed to apply for a scholarship through Dalhousie it seems, as the website says the cutoff for applying was on Feb. 15th of this year. I was quite busy studying during that period, so I wasn’t able to research and apply. Most scholarships I see seem to be for corporate, luck-based draws. I contacted the Registrar’s Office but they said there was a bursary in September and that was it - I’m not sure what the amount would be for that.

Main questions:
- Is there any chance of landing a scholarship at this point?
- Should I switch to a more affordable school?

Thanks 😊

Anyconsequences to parking in the dal parking lot behind the public library?

Im a distance student at dal in person for the week. I paid $25 for one day of street parking, just outside the dal parking lot. Ideally,I dont have to pay that every day for the next 6 days, so im wondering if I can park in the parking lot?

So I got an apartment close in proximity to campus, but I’m a first year and have never lived in Halifax, I’ve visited, but that’s pretty much it. I know that living in residence for the traditional university experience is important, though I like my own space and quiet. I’m a bit of an introvert, so all in all, the apartment set up is a good idea for myself.

The only problem is I’m not sure how to socialize and meet people as I won’t be in that built in people meeting environment. Since I won’t have family nearby and I know not a soul on campus, I’m just wondering about ways for me to socialize and acclimatize to university life and Halifax. Is there any book clubs on campus or nearby? Or for other people who have lived off campus (first year or otherwise) how did you manage to socialize and meet people?

Any reason why some profs haven't submitted grades before the May 6 Deadline?

I'm currently waiting on 1 more grade for a class and I really need it uploaded as soon as possible. Im planning to transfer to a different university for 2nd year, but kinda hard to order my transcript if I dont have all my grades uploaded to DalOnline 🙃.

Commerce: Does leaving out most recent semester transcript hurt co-op applications?

Just wondering if uploading my transcript without my most recent semester matters much for co-op applications?

I’m considering leaving out my Fall 2025 grades because they dropped quite a bit. My GPA went from 3.8 to 3.17., yes I know not pretty.

I just finished my first co-op at a Big 4 firm, which I’m hoping helps my resume, but I’m worried the GPA drop will outweigh that and firms either won’t look at my application or will think much less of it.

At the same time, if I don’t include my most recent grades, will employers see that as a red flag or overlook my application entirely?

Need help please 🙏

mici2100 grade curve

i have beef with Lois rn. Final grades came out on thursday for this class, and unfortunately i did not get the grade i need for Pharm (i got a C+ when i needed a B-). this ensued me crying (ofc) and emailing everyone possible as well as submitting an exemption letter.

Today tho, Lois decides to send out an email saying final grades were curved- and i now got the passing B- grade i need for pharm. WTF LOIS. I PANICKED FOR NOTHING???? WHY CURVE GRADES AFTER THEY COME OUT????

anyway! curious if anyone in pharm experienced something similar and if they still got in after having their acceptance revoked? The admin is unfortunately aware of me failing it and i had to update that i now passed after they had already rescinded my acceptance.

Thoughts on Churchill Apartments in 2026? Have things improved?

Hi! I’m looking into Churchill Apartments and the prices seem pretty good for what I’m looking for.
However, I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews online, especially older ones mentioning bedbugs and roaches.

I was wondering if anyone has lived there recently or knows if things have improved over the past few years? Are pest issues still common, or has management gotten better?

Any honest experiences would be really appreciated, thanks!

Dental hygiene orientation package

Got accepted into dental hygiene at the end of April and it said I should expect a orientation package of the next steps soon. I haven’t received anything and even emailed to ask about it. But that was last week and they haven’t gotten back either. Has anyone else gotten the package?
