I got a crown put in three months ago. When the temp was being removed, there was a section of my tooth that was incredibly sensitive. When the cement was being cleaned off for the permanent crown, it was really painful on one specific part of the tooth. Anytime the cement was being removed from that part, I would feel pain, but I sucked it up. Everyone told me the procedure to get the permanent on shouldn’t hurt and that I probably just had temporary pulpitis.
Since then I have had pain in the tooth. At first, I was chalking it up an infection, and I did end up getting a root canal AFTER the crown in the same tooth. That took care of the cold sensitivity. But I’m still feeling pain. Any time I chew on something that has any resistance, I’m talking bread, meat, tortillas, literally anything that requires chewing, I get a throbbing pain where I was feeling the sensitivity. I even feel pain running my tongue over the crown.
Im 31, and I don’t have good pics of the crown. I’m not a smoker. My friend, who is a dental hygienist, insists this is bacteria from my wisdom teeth tracking to the neighboring tooth. But the infection pain I had before felt different from this.
I’m worried my crown is poorly fitting and needs to be replaced. Open to thoughts and recommendations.
