Bedroom singer-songwriter here who can just about keep time behind a kit 😅

In a perfect world I’d grab a Roland TD-316… but at ~£1,700 in the UK, that dream is currently living in the “maybe one day” folder.

So here’s my slightly unhinged master plan:

• Used Alesis Surge (£150–£200)
• Run it through an eDRUMin 12 (future-proofing, right? 😏) ~£450
• Into my PC running EZDrummer 3 (~£115)

All in: ~£700–£750

Question is… am I being clever here, or just creating a very expensive science experiment?

Alternative would be something like an Alesis Nitro Ultimate for similar money and keep it simple… but the whole machine-gun snare thing worries me a bit.

Would love to hear your thoughts / experiences / “don’t do it mate” warnings.
