Hey everyone, long-time lurker here. I have a few questions and would love to hear from anyone with similar experiences.
My situation:
• F2A category (child under 21 of LPR)
• I-130 approved May 2023
• I-485 filed March 6, 2023 (PD March 6, 2023, Mexico)
• Priority date goes current May 1, 2026 (2 days away!)
• Last silent update was March 2026 — which coincides with when I submitted and had my medical RFE (I-693) delivered to USCIS (submitted before March 13, 2026, confirmed delivered, but still not reflected in the system)
• No new silent update on 4/27 or 4/28 like many others are reporting
My questions:
- Interview waived for F2A child under 21?
For those in F2A with an approved I-130 and a child under 21 as the principal applicant — were you interview waived? Or did USCIS schedule an interview? Would love to hear any experiences.
- No silent update — is my case lost? Or is it the enhanced security checks?
I see many people reporting silent updates on 4/27 and 4/28. My last update was in March 2026, which lines up with when my medical RFE response was delivered to USCIS — but it still hasn’t been updated in the system as received. Could the new enhanced security checks be the reason everyone else is getting silent updates but I’m not? Or more worryingly — could my case or my medical submission actually be lost in the system? Has anyone experienced something similar?
- How long after going current until approval?
For those whose PD became current — how long did it actually take for your I-485 to get approved after that? Days? Weeks? Months?
- Enhanced security checks — extra delays?
With the Trump administration’s new enhanced vetting requirements for all applicants, is anyone experiencing additional delays tied to that? Will this make cases that are already current take significantly longer?
- Would a congressional inquiry help?
My case has had no official AOS update since my I-130 was approved in May 2023. I’ve done a congressional inquiry before (got an AP document in about 10-11 days under the previous administration). Would contacting my congressional rep again help move things along now, or has anyone had success with that under the current administration?
Thanks in advance — this community has been incredibly helpful. 🙏
