Felt this since Ember
First off I love the new song. Love the old school vibes and the chorus is very catchy. Also feels like a more unique verse to their usual stuff.
My only issue is and this is somethinf ive noticed since Ember is the mixing. Now do not get me wrong Im not here to complain or start clowning the band in any way.
I just feel like when I listen to the older albums DBD included the mix was so clean and you can really hear everything stand out so much more.
Im aware they started self producing ( maybe this album is different?) But the mix is a bit messy imo. Im no expert at all but take Ember. I loved the songs when they came out and listened to it non stop for awhile. But these days its hard for me to listen to them because they are super "loud" and all over the place.
Aurora is an example where I simply cannot hear the acoustic guitars properly. I know they play in Drop C on acoustic so it wont stand out as much as a higher tuning but theres one thing I loved about their live acoustic performances and that was the sound of the guitar. Was a bit disappointed to kind of hear a muffled acoustic on Aurora.
Anyway im kind of yapping. What do yall think?
