Increase or decrease the dose? 5 months into treatment with new mix of hyper and hypo symptoms I have never ever had before
TLDR: I'm developing hypo symptoms that I didn't have previously along with improved energy and spoiled sleep but no libido increase I hoped for.
Started levothyroxine for euthyroid hashimoto. 25mcg then increased to 50mcg, labs after 6 weeks on 50 were TSH=1 and FT4=1. Increased dose to 75mcg and after 2 months TSH=1.15, FT4=1 (so no improvement in these numbers). FT3=2.8 (don't have previous readings).
(before treatment my TSH was hovering around 2 and sometimes I have seen higher FT4, but I'm doing much better now than back then!).
Right away after starting the treatment my fatigue was eliminated. But somewhere around the increase to 75mcg I developed a full blown cold intolerance (which was very mild before), my sleep keeps getting worse (was not great all my life), my BP got close to hypotension (in the past I had a tendency for hypertension) and rest HR is very normal. Fatigue returned to some extent but still a lot better than pre treatment, maybe due to unrelated reasons. My libido and erections were unchanged. So I actually have a strange mix of hyper and hypo symptoms and don't really know if I need to go back to 50mcg where I felt the best but still with no improvements in the main area (sexual) or keep increasing the dosage and push TSH down to 0.5 to see what it will do. The spoiled sleep is what stops me from increasing, on the other hand, from a cardio-vascular standpoint I still have a long way to go to hyperthyroidism (no anxiety or racing heart, no hotness, redness or sweats, actually the opposite)
I will talk with my doc soon but I'm pretty much sure he will be fine with both increasing or decreasing the dose.
