It might sound like a dumb question at first, but there's more to it than it meets the eye. Say you're watching a cartoon or sitcom where they're discussing how this one character had such the gall to tell their boss off; how their holier-than-thou attitude cost their job, and they're going to have to wait till kingdom come before finding another job.
Would a native speaker say things like that to a tourist, even if they're friends with them? Or would they just simplify the wording for the sake of being understood?
I'd be really obliged to know as I feel like I waste a great deal trying to understand the ins and outs of anything untoward I come across, which is not ideal.
TIA.
