My 28 weeker now 5 months actual is in hospital for RSV. He is in the PICU on day 6 and has improved greatly from the scary beginning when we brought him in. He is on high-low of 15 and feeds only. The issue is he cries all day and night, he is extremely irritable and nothing consoles him.They give him advil and Tylenol regularly through out the day. He is also on feeding tube so he is getting feeds.
Everyother test has come back clear. My question is how do we calm him down? . They gave him precedex yesterday and he slept for more that 4 hours for the first time in 48 hours ! They weaned him off the precedex this morning and by evening he is back to screaming uncontrollably without breaks which is worsening his retractions and fast breathing. What can we do and what should we be asking the doctors.... anyone else experience this with their baby?
