Paint & Spackle Work Quotes

Hi All,

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Just getting some quotes for painting/spackle work in my new home. Basically, just want to hear what the ballpark prices you all think are reasonable based on your experience.

New York City Metro area

From my calculation the paintable square footage is broken down to be:

  • 1200 Sqft of Ceilings
  • 2200 Sqft of Walls
  • Trim and Doors for 8 Openings

There will also be some extensive Spackle work done, as their were baseboards throughout the whole house that were ripped out, which caused some ripping of the top layer of Sheetrock under the pain towards the bottom of the walls. The walls and ceilings are not in terrible shape other than that, a little smoothing here and there will be done for nail holes etc.

The entire house will be the same color, seemed like there would need to be priming for about 300 square feet as well.

What do you all think a reasonable price for this work would be? Getting a lot of mixed feedback.

Visconti Opera Carousel <F> 14kt [A2]- $275 $220

  1. Purchased a few weeks ago from the Chatterly Luxuries closeout. Only inked once, and have not really used the pen all that much. The in house nib is surprisingly nice and writes decently wet for a fine albeit a little on the EF side.

Leonardo Furore Grande "Smeraldo" 14kt <1.3> [A2] - $415 $350

  1. Purchased mid January from the nibsmith. This is a really lovely pen, the acrylic material is very interesting to look at from different light angles. However, given the size of the nib, I won't find myself using this all that often for writing or business, so looking to move to someone that will.

Fifty4T Titan Carbon <F> [D] - $450

  1. Purchased from Pen Venture. This pen came with a few cracks in the end of the acrylic near the piston knob, they do not affect functionality, and Fifty4T can provide a replacement barrel. This additional cost for a new barrel (100 euro) is reflected in the price. Amazing pen, really writes well, but I decided not to keep this in my slimmed down collection.

Pilot 823 Amber <F> [A2] - $250

  1. Great pen, just prefer the FM that I frankensteined. Writes more on the EF side when compared to european style Fine nibs.

Gravitas Monster <B> + <EF> [A2] #69 from original run (aluminum) - $300

  1. Awesome writer with the super smooth broad nib. Just dont use this all that much as its a bit too large for my hands to use comfortably for longer sessions.
