So today I found about the fact that AMD GPUs should be undervolted in many cases. I had the problem that my card got very hot and thus extremely loud.

I have the RX 7800 XT since April 2025.

I am playing on QHD and the best settings for games like Oblivion remastered, valheim, enshrouded etc. Especially enshrouded made my card extremely hot.

Hotspot temp was around 95 to 100 °C

Global temp was 80 °C

So I undervolted that b a little. Voltage down from 1150 mv to 1050 mv and max frequency also down a little (100ish).

Result? 15 °C (!!!) less hotspot heat. Global temp went also down. New temps under same circumstances as above:

Hotspot 85°C

Global 70°C

Fans very silent.

And the best thing is, not even performance losses. Same FPS.

So yeah, if you have the same problems as me, just try undervolting.

Thanks for reading.
