So I've had a bunch of dental work done in the past, and have recently gone back in and annoyingly needed two root canals done. I was given a figure up front for how much it would cost, and then yesterday when I went in, they put temporary crowns on and then gave me another figure, which now includes crowns and in total is costing me double what I initially thought. I was never told this figure before, or even given an option for anything, and it has come as a surprise and an annoyance. Anyway, I was literally just now having some food, and one of the temporary crowns came out. Just before the temporary crown came out I was in the process of writing a message to my dentist saying how I would like to cancel my appointment for the crowns as I don't want to spend that money right now and that a colleague had told me keeping the temps for now till I can afford work is an option.
But given that the temp crown came out today when I literally just had it put in yesterday, I figured maybe I should call up my dentist and delay sending that message and see what they advise. They said they'd put another temp crown in (even though i did ask about doing a filling instead) so I guess I have to go through with that option (figures theyd say that though).
Am I being stupid for going back to them and having another temporary crown? I am going to stop going to this dentist after as they charge a ton and I only go to them because they are close to where I live, but this time am I being stupid for the temporary crown, and should instead go to a different dentist and get a filling done instead? Hopefully as an NHS patient if possible. What do you think?
