I was at a small independent coffee shop on a Saturday morning, had been there about 40 minutes, laptop open, bag on the chair next to me. The place was maybe half full, several empty tables visible including a two-top right next to mine.

A woman walks up and says "can you move your bag, my husband needs to sit." Not a question really, more of an instruction. I looked around, pointed out the empty table two feet away, and she said "we want to sit here." I moved my bag. Her husband sat down. She went to order.

They got their drinks, sat for maybe four or five minutes, then she got a phone call, said something to him, and they both got up and left. To go, apparently. They hadnt even stayed to drink their coffee there.

I dont have a strong conclu sion here. Nobody was rude exactly, nothing dramatic happened. I just moved my bag for two people who needed that specific seat for five minutes and then left, when there were multiple empty seats available the entire time. It was a very small and complete interaction.
