I’ve been applying consistently for a while now, and I’m starting to notice something in my own search.

It’s not just that I’m not getting responses —

it’s that I’m not sure what’s actually happening anymore.

At first it feels like effort:
apply more, improve your resume, keep going

But after a while it starts to feel like something else:

• not knowing if you’re being seen
• not knowing if your experience is being read correctly
• not knowing if you’re even aiming at the right roles

It becomes less about “doing more”
and more about not understanding what’s actually working.

So I’m curious —

when things aren’t moving, what does it feel like is actually breaking for you?

Is it effort, direction, or something harder to see?

It doesn’t always feel like you’re getting rejected.

It just feels like… nothing happens.

Not a clear “no”, but not a “yes” either.

Almost like your application just sits there.

Not strong enough to move forward, but not weak enough to get rejected.

Like it ends up in some kind of “maybe” pile.

For people who’ve been applying a lot —

does it feel like you’re getting rejected,

or just quietly not moving forward?

It doesn’t always feel like you’re getting rejected.

It feels like you’re just… not moving forward.

Not a clear “no”

but not a “yes” either.

Almost like your application just sits somewhere in the middle.

Not strong enough to stand out,

not weak enough to be rejected.

Some people describe it like a “maybe” pile.

So I’m curious —

does it feel like you’re being clearly rejected,

or just quietly ignored most of the time?

I’ve been noticing this —

people are applying, doing everything right,

and still getting no response.

At some point it stops feeling like a skill issue.

It feels like something in the system is breaking.

Some say:

- too many applicants

- ghost / fake jobs

- getting filtered out

- it’s about who you know

- recruiters are overwhelmed

But these don’t all point to the same problem.

So when you apply and hear nothing back —

what does it feel like is actually happening?

Not the official explanation —

what feels real?

Lately I’ve been thinking about this —

a lot of people are applying consistently,

doing what they’re supposed to,

and still getting little to no response.

At some point it stops feeling like effort is the issue.

It feels like something else is breaking,

but it’s hard to tell what.

Is it:

- getting filtered out before anyone sees you?

- applying to roles that don’t actually match how experience is read?

- or just the volume of applicants now?

I’m starting to feel like there’s a gap between what we think matters

and what actually gets you through.

Curious how others are seeing it —

what part of the process feels like it’s actually breaking for you?
