Could not use Atmos Visa free checked bag benefit after reservation with wrong card
I booked a one-way flight out of SEA with the wrong credit card. I'm aware of the official requirement that a reservation must be booked with your Atmos Visa in order to get the free checked bag benefit, however I had seen many data points on this sub of people being able to change the card on their reservation or show their card to an agent at the airport to be able to get the benefit as well.
I tried calling two different representatives earlier this week, and was told by both of them that it would not be possible to change the card on the reservation. Perhaps I just got unlucky here with the reps that I called?
I also tried talking to two different agents at the airport and showed them my physical Atmos Visa credit card. Both of them scanned my boarding pass with their tablets and showed me that the last four digits of the credit card on the reservation did not match my Atmos Visa (as expected). The second agent I spoke with mentioned that the restriction was actually enforced by Bank of America, not necessarily Alaska themselves.
In general it seems that Alaska is being much more rigid with how the free checked bag benefit can be used, at least compared to others' experiences I've read online. Thought I would share my data point here to see if anyone has had luck with this more recently!
