Application process
Hey everyone, looking for some honest advice from people who’ve successfully gotten their CCW permit in NYC/NYS.
I’m interested in applying for my CCW, but years ago I dealt with anxiety/stress issues and had therapy in the past. I’ve never been suicidal or anything like that, and I’m trying to understand how much something like this could affect the application process.
I was also recently offered a carry/guard position for a company’s CEO, and from my understanding getting my CCW is the first step toward getting my armed guard/carry guard licensing.
Realistically, would past anxiety or therapy automatically hurt my chances during the investigation process?
I’m trying to go through everything correctly and honestly without over-explaining things or making them sound worse than they were.
For anyone who’s been through it:
Did they ask for records or evaluations?
What became an issue vs what didn’t?
Any advice for handling the process correctly?
