Books like Ghibli films but...

I've looked at other posts asking for books that have the Ghibli feeling and they always crave the cozy vibes and comforts of Ghibli films. This isn't exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm more interested in the science-fantasy aspects of these films. The massive machines, airships and frigates with almost grotesque designs. The use of magic in these worlds which seemingly coexists with technology.

Much of the technology is used as instruments of war. This is another theme that I'm interested in, the explicit anti-war and pro-environmentalist messaging that's often included in Miyazaki's films.

Another theme that interests me, are the ancient ruins and civilizations left behind which have been overtaken by nature. It's not just civilizations, there's often various manmade structures that have been 'reclaimed' by nature.

I also like the fast paced action of Laputa.

And of course, well-written female protagonists are more than welcome.

I hope I explained myself well enough, I'm interested in works that touch on some of these themes. They don't have to include everything.

I don't mind if it's a book, graphic novel, comic or manga

The Day the Baldmance died... Rip Brauning

I had to cut it down a little. I'm so sorry everyone but I think we all knew it was over as soon as it started. Socialists and Bourgeois just can't get along in the long run...

Bruning finds himself growing jealous of Hindy and Braun's close friendship... And now he wishes to end the Prussian baldmance. You tell me comrades (and liberals), should the SPD end the toleration agreement with Z? or should they tolerate the hunger chancellor.
