Hi all, I am new to Toronto, after exploring multiple neighborhoods (almost all of them near yellow line stations) and grueling past few weeks of apartment hunting, I have stumbled upon a decent unit in 8 Cumberland that fits my requirements, but then I read reviews of 8 Cumberland, and very recent ones complain about packages being stolen.
Looking for honest reviews on 8 Cumberland.
Anything I should know about that neighborhood?
My main two requirements are 1. close to yellow line stations under the green line (my work will be near King station) since this will be my first winters, and 2. light/semi-unobstructed view. I am also sensitive to sound, but I understand there will be city noises, but a more sound-proofed building will be preferable.
Other than that, a moderately lively neighborhood since I don't know anyone here yet (which is why couldn't do near St. Patrick's station, even though I found a decent unit there as well).
(The other current option is 88 Cumberland nearby, but that feels a bit too posh, I don't know how to explain.)
I also looked in the King west area new St.Andrew station.
I really wanted to get a place there but even after compromising on light, it seems like half of the seemingly good buildings/units have elevator issues or maintenance issues. Ex: 21 widmer, 55 mercer, etc. (Maybe 199 Richmond is an exception?)
Is that just the norm, should I just suck it up?
Can anyone recommend good condos in under ~10 min walk of St. Andrews?
Any pointers would be much appreciated! (I feel like I am not doing the Toronto downtown house-hunting right.)
