How much does English level weigh when choosing your au pair? I have one candidate who I like and we are in the final talk regarding details but only one thing I am not sure about is her English level. She needs questions to be repeated, cant explain herself very well sometimes, and didn't understand the word " cookies" when chatting with my kid. I wonder if English level would affect the engagement with my kid and our communication in the future. But she has college degree in her country, so I assume she would pick up fast ?
The other thing is that her stipend expectation range is $250-$300. I offered $225 in the beginning and raise would be considerered based on performance. It will be jumped to $250 then later on more if things work well. I have only one G6 girl and one dog to be taken care of. Considering her English Level, I feel it is really a high stipend, but we need someone very soon and there is not too many choices so that's why I didn't bargin.
