Douglas customization help?
Hello! Hopefully this can be asked here, you guys seem friendly so figured I'd shoot my shot but if not please direct me to a better sub for this. I recently rescued a Mandy yellow lab Douglas from a local thrift and I'm in love with the shape and texture and how posable they are! My only problem is that I don't really care for labs so I want to customize them into my favorite dog which has almost no plush of them: the piebald/panda German shepherd!
My question for you guys is, how should I go about this? It looks like a lot of you have custom Douglas so I'm hopeful to receive some experienced advice. It seems like most customs are dyed which i was planning to do for the brown and possibly black parts, but has anyone ever found matching fabric to sew patterns onto a custom? I think that's my only option for the white markings. I'm a fairly experienced sewist and I've worked with stuffed animal fabrics before but I've never found a source for something of this quality. TYIA for any help!
TLDR: Need advice on customizing a Douglas plush and sourcing similar fabric.
