clipped a tiny cam on my group ride and now I kinda get the appeal
Took my XTRA Atto out this morning for the Pandas Ponies group ride and clipped it to my shirt with the magnetic lanyard they provided
What I liked most was how low-effort it felt. Since it’s so compact and lightweight compared to a traditional action cam, I basically just hit record, clipped it on, and forgot it was there for most of the ride. For a group ride, that actually made a big difference because I didn’t want to keep messing with a camera or get in other riders 31 way.
Most of this route had steady climbing, some rougher patches, and then a faster descent (climbing up griffith was def my fav part lol). I also accidentally tested out the timelapse feature during part of the climb after I pressed the wrong setting, and that ended up being one of the biggest surprises. It made the slower uphill sections look way more interesting without me having to stop, frame shots, or constantly think about filming.
For anyone who rides and just wants something simple to document climbs, descents, group rides, or random route moments, I can see why a tiny cam like this makes sense. It’s not trying to replace a full camera setup, but that’s kind of the point. It’s small enough that you actually bring it with you.
Is anyone else here recording rides with small cams? What mount angle actually looks the least boring and what settings do you typically use when filming this type of fast movement content?
