Watching some people call Heo Nam Jun ugly in *My Royal Nemesis* is actually making me realize how badly those Kdrama fans have been conditioned by identical casting for years 😭
Because what exactly is ugly here?
Tall. Sharp features. Good physique. Deep voice. Strong screen presence. Good actor. Fits the character perfectly.
So the real issue is basically:
“he doesn’t look like every other soft-faced flower boy lead I’ve seen 900 times before.”
And that’s fine! Preferences exist. But acting like he’s objectively unattractive is so dramatic 😭
What’s crazy is if the exact same man was playing a morally grey mafia villain everyone would suddenly be thirsting over him and making “step on me” edits by episode 2.
A lot of viewers don’t actually judge visuals independently anymore. They judge based on familiarity, fandom influence and whether someone already fits the accepted Kdrama lead template.
And honestly, the reactions say a lot about how narrow audience expectations have become.
