Home Improvement Ad’s Advice

Hey r/FacebookAds,

looking for some honest advice. I’m helping my dad get leads for his home improvement business in the DMV area. He does kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, cabinets, countertops, and full renovations. I’m new to ads and just trying to help him grow without wasting his money.

We ran a call ad:
$30/day for 4 days
15-sec kitchen renovation video
Free estimate offer
Spent about $101
5,898 impressions
2.3% CTR at peak
888 engagements
1 call, but it was a salesperson
0 real customer calls

Average watch time was only 2 seconds, I thought calls would work since my dad answers 24/7 and jobs are usually $5k–$20k, but now I’m wondering if instant forms would be better. For local home improvement ads, what works best: calls, forms, landing pages? And should I use before/after photos, single images, carousel, or better video hooks?

Appreciate any advice. Just trying to help my dad out!
