Soooooo I just wanna share my experience with everybody right now because the last two days has been a whirlwind. So I got a phone call on Friday from “Verizon”. Calling asking me if I’m happy with my service and because I’ve been a loyal customer for over 10 years, that I qualify for a 65% discount on my plan and a free iPad. Everything that was done through this call, they said it was recorded, and they were pushing the notifications through the Verizon app. So there was no reason for me to think that it was illegitimate.

So I continued with it

They send me a brand new iPad Pro 13, 256 gig with Wi-Fi and cellular. Charged me $126 for overnight shipping and said it’ll be refunded when I call back to set it up. I got it in the mail the next day it came FedEx you know normal package pick up. Then, They start blowing my phone up.

They say “hey I’m so sorry we sent you the wrong product. I’m gonna connect you with my supervisor to replace the product. Because the iPad Pro 13 was not part of the promo, it was supposed to be an iPad 11. We’re gonna get you started so we can get you the iPad so you don’t get charged for a $1500 iPad Pro 13.”

I’m like “OK whatever, I haven’t opened it yet so you know just transfer me to your supervisor or whoever I need for the return .I’m not paying for the return by the way. and you guys can either send me the iPad that I’m supposed to have or you can just fucking you know keep it and take any of the charges off my account because I’m not adding a line at this time and I already have an iPad (with Wi-Fi only) so I don’t really need another one.”

So they transferred me over to this person. Who sends me an emailed shipping label and tells me to bring it to the closest UPS. mind you they were able to GPS the closest UPS from my address and told me how it’s only 2 miles away and I should be able to have it there within the hour in my mind I’m like “okay you guys are being creepy 🤣”

I’m like OK sure whatever send me over the shipping label .They read me the label out loud on the phone. Me and my husband are laughing hysterically because it’s made out to Jordan Belfort (you know from the wolf of Wall Street movie ) when we google earth it, it’s in the hood of New York. And he looks at me and he says “you’re getting scammed so fucking hard.🤣🤣”

So we go to Verizon and I’m like well if Verizon sent it out which they did because they charged me on my Verizon account. And like I have the order on my app that says you know that they push this through the through Verizon. Then there’s no reason why I can’t just go to Verizon and be like hey take this off my account and give me my money back.

I go there, the rep sends me to their bigger store down the road. And she gives me a list of phone numbers to call customer pro team so I could get a real address to send this back to Verizon and fraud protection to make sure that this doesn’t happen again.

Long story short I got all my money back and I returned the iPad. But please everybody be so super careful because the scammers have all this fucking technology on their hands and it’s so crazy How legiti the sounded until they asked me to send the iPad back and sent me a sketchy address.

For all my Verizon people I have a list of all the Verizon 800 numbers if this happens to you or anyone you know. I just can’t post it here.

TLDR: if Verizon isn’t calling with offers from a Verizon 800 number, don’t. The scam is getting you to send an iPad so it can get sold off but jokes on you. You’re paying for it on your account.

Good luck out there. As technology gets better so do the scammers.
