Looking for a carbon-plated shoe for long quality sessions (wide feet + flat feet + stable platform)
Current rotation:
- Easy/recovery: HOKA Gaviota 6
- Short fast intervals (100–500m): ASICS Sonicblast
What I’m missing:
- a shoe for longer quality workouts / long runs with tempo sections
- workouts usually around 10–15 km total
- reps mostly 1–2 km at ~4:30–5:00/km pace
About me:
- male
- 82 kg
- midfoot/full-foot striker (not heel striking)
- flat feet
- wide feet: ~10.5 cm width
- stronger pronation when shoes have aggressive medial cutouts
- 30-40 km per week
VERY important:
I’m specifically looking for a plated/supershoe-style trainer/racer with:
- strong/aggressive ride
- good snap and propulsion
- stable platform
- minimal medial/midfoot cutout
Shoes with large inner midfoot cutouts tend to make my foot collapse inward and cause knee pain around the sides/under the kneecap.
Currently considering:
- Saucony Endorphin Pro 5
- New Balance FuelCell SC Elite v4 / v5
- Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro 3
What would you recommend for this use case? Especially interested in:
- wide-foot friendly carbon shoes
- stable supershoes
- shoes with full midfoot support / less aggressive cutouts
- good for midfoot strikers and heavier runners
Thanks for help !
