Hi everyone,
I just found something on my windowsill where I regularly feed birds, and I’m a bit confused about what it is.
It looks like part of a beak (or maybe a whole small beak?), but I honestly can’t tell if it broke off from a bird or if it’s something else entirely.
I get a lot of different birds visiting: crows, pigeons (including juveniles), starlings, sparrows, blue tits, and other small birds. So it could belong to almost anything.
One thing I noticed: earlier I saw a starling rubbing/wiping its beak on the windowsill (which I know birds sometimes do). Starlings have pretty long, thin beaks, and when it flew away I didn’t notice anything unusual about it. It looked completely normal to me.
Later, when I looked outside again, I saw this object. But I’m not even sure if it appeared at that exact moment or if it had already been there before.
There was no obvious sign of a dead bird nearby, which makes it even stranger. It doesn’t look very fresh or bloody. It’s not that hard too.
Has anyone seen something like this before?
Do birds ever lose parts of their beak naturally, or could this be something else?
Thanks in advance! - found by me
