Hi there, I’m looking for options for my sister. My sister, we’ll call her Kate (41f), recently told me that her sister-in-law, we’ll call her Lisa (32f), showed up to her house drunk, with Lisa’s young daughters in the car (14, 9).
When they came in the house Lisa was slurring her words and noticeably intoxicated. The older daughter told her cousin that her mom had been drinking from an open bottle of tequila and smoking a cigarette and at one point had to grab the bottle and throw it out the window because Lisa didn’t have any hands on the wheel. Lisa is spiraling after her husband cheated on her and is going to jail. My sister is concerned if she reports to police that she will lose access to the girls and they’ll end up in foster care because both parents will be in jail.
I’ve also said perhaps call the girls’ school and ask them for advice but she is terrified it will come back to her. Please help!
