Got temple recession, started finasteride 2 months ago. Bosley’s surgeon said I’m good for a 1000-graft transplant but now I’m second-guessing myself.
Why I want it: My temples really bother me and a transplant would actually help. Fin won’t regrow recession anyway.
Why I’m hesitant: Everything says you should be on fin for 6-12 months before transplanting, not 2 months. Plus I’m only 19 and my pattern might still be changing. Also Bosley obviously profits from transplants so idk how unbiased that recommendation is.
Real question though: Why exactly do I need to be on fin longer before a transplant? Is it just to make sure my temples don’t recede further? Or is there actual potential for improvement that I’m missing? Because if my recession isn’t coming back with fin, what’s the point of waiting?
Should I get a second opinion? How long should I actually be on fin before this makes sense?
