So I am a F in her 30s I “manage” a shop, I am a healthcare professional and the management title comes with the role (unfortunately). I work for a large company, they’re not the best - took away sick pay, don’t have a dedicated relief staff team and just all around penny pinch and micro manage.

I asked for cover this week in the shop as two staff are sick and I am off on annual leave/training for a qualification.

My area manager has now messaged me saying I need to call around the area asking for cover for the shop as she was unable to sort it. What would you do? I know for a fact when the management are off they don’t do any work, they redirect. So why should I have to? To note - the only option they give us for cover is messaging in group chats. There’s no staff tomorrow at all as the ones who are sick are the only ones usually in - and the staff that are working don’t want over time which is fair enough.
