Real Madrid’s defence has been a problem for years now and injuries make it even worse every season. Militão keeps coming back from serious injuries, Alaba is no longer reliable physically, and Rüdiger cannot carry the entire backline alone forever.
Huijsen is talented and I honestly think he has a huge future at the club, but expecting a young defender to instantly solve Madrid’s defensive issues is unfair. Right now the squad needs at least TWO world-class defenders.
My dream signing is William Saliba. Madrid were already linked with him in reports last season and he looks like the perfect modern CB: strong, calm under pressure, dominant in duels, and elite on the ball.
For the second profile, I would go for Joško Gvardiol. Left-footed, versatile, aggressive, quick, and capable of playing multiple positions. He feels like the Valverde of defenders because he can cover so many tactical problems at once.
Micky van de Ven would also be an excellent option. His recovery pace alone would completely change how Madrid defend transitions and high lines.
Everyone talks about attackers and midfielders, but without rebuilding the defence properly this team will keep suffering in big matches no matter who starts upfront.
