▲ 210 r/Gemstones

I’m trying to figure out if we got ripped off. We found a ton of big gems while sifting through 2 big buckets at a gem mine in NC. They offer a gem-cutting service so we gave them our biggest and best finds and had them cut 6 gems (citrine, garnet, labradorite, sapphire, grey moonstone, and mystic topaz). After a month, we received in the mail these tiny gems the size of my pinky fingernail, nowhere near the size we turned in. I know there should be a reduction but this just felt wrong, like as if these weren’t actually our stones. They made us think we needed to turn in the biggest stones so we could get the biggest gem out of them. As for a previous positive experience, we’d actually gone to the same gem mine about 10 years prior and the aventurine that we found and had them cut came back to us the size of my thumb and big enough to be a pendant in a necklace. So, this time, did we get one pulled over on us? Why so small?
