Without spoiling,
I actually enjoyed the slower character building slice of life episodes (main and side) before getting hit with the tension of Quest 4.
Not every story needs to start with high stakes. I personally think the beginning of the story did a great job of building each character’s personality and their relationships through these little silly episodes. (Taygedo is fine, especially if you have kids - real kids are way worse)
The contrast can make the tense parts even more impactful. It also aligns and is reflected in how the game presents itself - you walk around enjoying a fun casual beautiful game before finding yourself in a scary horror situation in a split second. So far I am enjoying having 3 fun episodes followed by one serious one.
If anyone has watch Charlotte (the anime) was just like this - started out slice of life and then had a major shift halfway through.
I enjoyed the roller coaster. I hope NTE keeps their vision and doesn’t given in to players who can’t handle having a variety of story telling presentation.
