It’s financially draining now.
hey, I wanted to make this post mostly to vent. I am someone who missed out on monster high and other dolls because I was 12 and had 0 money + international fan.
But now that I am 20, I can finally kinda afford to get some of the things I missed out on. But Mattel drops are so frustrating. I wanted to get River doll and it got sold out within minus in general release only for people to sell her at 2x the price few days later. It’s just so frustrating. And all skullector dolls are $80+ WHO PAYS THIS MUCH PRICE FOR A PEICE OF PLASTIC?? 80 bucks!!
Most new monster high doll quality DO NOT match this price point. MGA with rainbow high made CRAZY detailed dolls for 30 bucks!! I hate how I have to pay so much just in the name for nostalgia and FOMO.
All I wanted was to have a decent doll collection that I always dreamt about. It is such a scummy behavior to use nostalgia as pricing your product so high.
Also let’s talk about wave 4 creepos. THEY ARE ALREADY DOUBLE THEIR PRICES?! can’t THEY SEE THE DEMAND FOR G1 DOLLS?? WE WANT THEM! YET THEY KEEP UNDERPRODUCING THEM SO THERE WILL BE CONTINUOUS SHORTAGE!
And mattel 100% knows that. They love that scalpers buy almost everything and rest of us run to buy the remaining stock. We don’t even see the price if the doll is actually worth it and buy it due to it getting sold out. And mattel love this because it makes sure their future skullectors got sold out because people purchase the doll first and then think “was she worth it?”
I am just at a point I only want to get the signatures dolls and creepos at a fair price and END this hobby. I am an adult and I realize I need to start saving and investing this money instead. I also see people running after 40 buck monster high dolls with no cloths and messed up hair. Guys. It’s just plastic. The same doll few years ago FULLY NEW costed 20 bucks or even less than that.
