Any Melbourne Zeekr meets coming up?

Hey all,

Saw that Zeekr recently put on a driver meet in Sydney — looked great. Has anyone heard if they’ve got anything similar planned for Melbourne?
Keen to hear if it’s on their radar, or if anyone has contacts at Zeekr AU who’d know. Plenty of owners down here who’d turn up.

Took the latest Zeekr X for a spin over the weekend and wanted to share some impressions, especially for anyone cross-shopping or upgrading from the 2025 model.

The interior is a serious step up from the 2025. The middle console area in particular is much better thought out — feels more premium and usable. The leather wrapping around the door sides genuinely gives it a luxury feel — that was one of the standout touches for me. That said, I really don't think the fridge is necessary. Nice gimmick, but I'd happily trade it for storage or a lower price.

The thing that genuinely surprised me was the take-off. It felt a bit sluggish off the line, which is not something I ever thought I'd say about an EV. It's not bad as such, but coming from other EVs (including our 7X), it caught me off guard. Curious if anyone else has noticed this or whether it's a drive mode setting I missed.

Rear passenger space is impressive for a car this size — felt roomier in the back than I expected.

The white interior looks absolutely stunning in person. But I've seen photos floating around of discolouration on the white seats after some use, so personally I wouldn't risk it. Would love to hear from anyone who's lived with the white interior for a while.

One small thing — the salesperson mentioned you can get a cover for the sunroof for $300, but she said her customers who've bought it don't really end up using it. So probably one to skip unless you really want it.

Coming from our Zeekr 7X, the familiar operating system was a real plus — zero learning curve, everything where I expected it to be.

Overall a solid car with a much-improved cabin. The take-off is the one thing I'd want to dig into more before pulling the trigger.

Anyone else driven the new X? Keen to hear your thoughts.

Hi, looking for some thoughts:

Run a small Pty Ltd alongside my day job. I've built up some retained earnings and don't want to pay myself dividends for the next 1.5–2 years — currently on the top marginal rate from my PAYG income, and I'm expecting to step back from the day job in that timeframe, so it makes sense to wait until I'm in a lower bracket before drawing it out.

In the meantime I'd rather not have it sitting in the business transaction account earning nothing. Keen to hear how others have parked retained profits over a similar horizon.

A few things I'm trying to get my head around:

- Best HISA / term deposit options held in a company name (anyone using Macquarie, ING Business, etc.)?
- ETFs or shares held by the company — I know there's no 50% CGT discount for companies, but for an 18–24 month hold is it still worth it vs. just cash?
- Pros and cons of leaving it in the trading entity vs. setting up a separate investment / 'bucket' company
- Anything to watch out for re: Div 7A, franking credit balance, or base rate entity status (passive income limits) if I shift the mix toward investments?

Not after personal financial advice — I'll be running anything I do past my accountant. Just want to hear what's worked (or hasn't) for others in a similar spot.

Thanks everyone.

Hey all,

Considering picking up a Zeekr X — there’s a pretty good deal running at the moment that’s pushed it onto my shortlist. I’ve watched plenty of reviews online (the usual suspects) but they’re mostly first impressions from week-long press loans, not people who’ve actually lived with the car.

If you own one, would love to hear:
• How’s real-world range holding up vs the WLTP claim? Especially in mixed driving and cooler weather
• Build quality and panel gaps after a few months of ownership
• Software / infotainment — any glitches, OTA update experience, CarPlay or Android Auto situation
• Charging — both DC fast charging in the wild and home AC. Any curve issues?
• Service / dealer experience so far if you’ve needed it
• Anything that’s annoyed you that wasn’t obvious in reviews
• Anything that’s genuinely surprised you in a good way

For context I’m in Melbourne, mostly suburban driving with the rare longer trip.

Currently in a Zeekr 7X so already familiar with the brand’s quirks — just want to know what the X is like to actually live with day-to-day.

Hi all, just upgraded to the TCL C8K 85” and after some help dialling in picture settings for the two things I watch most:

1.	Streaming (Netflix built-in app) — mix of films and series, mostly evening viewing

2.	Live sports (built-in app) — fast-paced ball sports, mix of day and evening viewing

Setup / room:

•	Audio: JBL Bar 1000 via eARC

•	Room lighting: \[moderate ambient / mostly dim evenings — edit to suit\]

•	Sources: built-in apps (no external streamer)

What I’m trying to get right:

•	Best picture mode as a starting point per source (Filmmaker / Movie / IMAX Enhanced / Sports / Standard?)

•	Local dimming setting — some say High causes blooming on the C8K, others say it’s needed for HDR punch

•	Motion smoothing — want it off for film, but is some level worth keeping for fast sports where the ball moves quickly?

•	HDR handling — anything specific for Dolby Vision vs HDR10 on Netflix

•	Colour temp / gamma — Warm 1 vs Warm 2, and any gamma tweaks people landed on

•	Any specific menu items that are on by default but worth turning off (dynamic contrast, noise reduction, edge enhancement, etc.)

Happy to hear full settings dumps if anyone’s calibrated theirs.

Thanks everyone.

Zeekr has rolled out an updated version of the X, and I reckon it's worth a proper community discussion. The original X had plenty going for it but also had its fair share of "hmm, wish they'd done that differently" moments — so this refresh is a good chance to see whether Zeekr has been listening.

Keen to hear from anyone who:

  • Has ordered or taken delivery of the updated X
  • Has test-driven it back-to-back with the original
  • Is cross-shopping it right now and weighing it up
  • Just has strong opinions (always welcome here)

1. What's actually different vs the original X? This is the big one. Let's pool what we know:

  • Exterior tweaks — styling changes, new colours, wheel options?
  • Interior updates — materials, layout, screen size, any physical buttons returning from exile?
  • Software/UI — has the infotainment had a proper rework, or is it the same menu labyrinth with a fresh coat of paint?
  • Battery/range/charging — any improvements to the pack, charging curve, or real-world efficiency?
  • Driving dynamics — suspension tuning, steering feel, NVH improvements?
  • ADAS and driver assistance — more mature, or still overly enthusiastic about lane keeping?
  • Price and spec changes — better value, or has the refresh bumped things up?

2. Has Zeekr actually addressed the original's weak points? The first X got criticism in a few areas — some ride quality feedback, software quirks, and the usual new-brand teething issues. Has the update genuinely fixed these, or is it more of a mid-life makeover than a meaningful revision? If you've driven both, your input here is gold.

3. How does the updated X compare to its peer group? The segment hasn't stood still either. Keen to hear thoughts on the updated X vs:

  • Volvo EX30 — the platform sibling. Does the refreshed X finally feel like the more premium option, or is the EX30 still the polished one?
  • BYD Atto 3 — value king. Is the X worth the premium now?
  • Smart #1 / #3 — same Geely family, different personality
  • Kia EV3 — fresh competition with a strong warranty story
  • Tesla Model Y — different size, but the inevitable cross-shop
  • MG4 / MG S5 EV — if the budget's tight, is the X still the smarter buy?

4. Ownership reality check

  • Range you're actually seeing
  • DC fast-charging behaviour
  • Any new quirks or bugs to flag for future buyers
  • School run / dog / IKEA run practicality
  • Would you buy the updated X over the original at the same price?

NZ members — especially keen to hear if/when the updated X is landing across the ditch, and how pricing and availability compare.

And if you're still on the fence, drop your questions below — plenty of people here will have thoughts.

Let's hear it -->

G'day (and kia ora!) — welcome to r/ZeekrAustraliaNZ

A bit of history on how we got here:

As one of the first people in Australia to take delivery of a Zeekr 7X, I quickly realised there was a pretty big gap when it came to local information. Official channels only tell you so much, and a lot of the real-world stuff — the quirks, the tips, the "does anyone else's car do this?" moments — was scattered across random Facebook comments and group chats. Reddit felt like the obvious place for owners to actually share notes and help each other out.

So I kicked off a subreddit focused solely on the Zeekr 7X. Made sense at the time — it's the one I drive, it's the one I won't shut up about at BBQs, and frankly I assumed everyone else was just as obsessed with it as I am.

Turns out… there's a whole lot more going on in Zeekr land than just the 7X. Who knew? (Everyone. Everyone knew.)

Between the X, the 001, the 009 minivan that looks like it teleported in from 2035, and whatever Zeekr drops next week, it became pretty clear that a single-model sub wasn't going to cut it. So here we are — one home for all things Zeekr.

Round two of scope creep: I also started this as an Aussie-only thing, which in hindsight was a bit rude considering our mates across the ditch are out there driving these cars too, putting up with the same right-hand-drive quirks and probably asking the same "why does this menu have 47 layers?" questions we are. So: New Zealand, you're in. Bring the pavlova (we'll fight about who invented it later) and your charging stories.

What about r/Zeekr7xAustralia**?** It's not going anywhere — we'll keep it running as the dedicated space for 7X-specific chat. If you've got a 7X question, tip, or photo that's really just for fellow 7X owners, that's still the right home for it. NZ 7X owners, you're more than welcome over there too — unfortunately Reddit won't let me rename the group to reflect that, so just pretend the "Australia" in the name is a warm invitation rather than a restriction. Think of r/ZeekrAustraliaNZ as the big family gathering, and r/Zeekr7xAustralia as the 7X owners' table at the back still arguing about tyre pressures.

Quick disclaimer before we go further: I'm not affiliated with Zeekr in any way, shape, or form. I'm not paid by them, sponsored by them, or secretly working for them. Nobody slipped me an envelope. I'm just an owner who likes the car, thinks the community deserves a proper home, and has a bit too much spare time. Everything posted here is the honest opinions of owners and enthusiasts — good, bad, and ugly.

Community vibe: We're all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let's build a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing and connecting — whether you've had your Zeekr for a year, picked it up last Tuesday, or are still in the "just browsing" phase trying to convince your partner.

What this sub is for:

  • Ownership experiences across the whole Zeekr range — 7X, X, 001, 009, whatever's next
  • Charging infrastructure, road trip planning, and range anxiety therapy sessions
  • Software updates (the good, the bad, and the "why did they move that button")
  • Service, warranty, and dealer experiences in both countries
  • Photos, mods, and the occasional flex
  • Questions from the Zeekr-curious — no judgement, we've all been there

Stuck for post ideas? Here are some things we'd love to see:

  • Delivery day posts — show off the new arrival, we're all suckers for a hero shot
  • Road trip reports — where you went, how it charged, what worked, what didn't
  • Charging station reviews — particularly the obscure ones in weird little towns that saved your bacon
  • Software update notes — what changed, what broke, what improved after the latest OTA
  • Comparisons and buying dilemmas — "7X or 001?", "Zeekr vs BYD vs Tesla?" — genuine discussion welcome
  • Tips and tricks — settings you've tweaked, quirks you've figured out, cables/accessories worth buying
  • Service and warranty stories — the good experiences and the not-so-good (the community benefits either way)
  • Mods and accessories — tyres, mats, wraps, tints, dashcams, everything
  • Questions — big, small, dumb, technical, whatever. If you're wondering, someone else probably is too
  • News and announcements — new models, price changes, pop-up events, Zeekr-related Aussie/NZ news
  • Memes and shitposts — within reason. We're not monsters, we like a laugh

What this sub isn't for:

  • Turning every thread into a Tesla vs Zeekr slap fight (we have better things to do)
  • Spam and dodgy referral links
  • Anything that would get us all in trouble with the Reddit admins

If you were in the old 7X-only sub, nothing's lost — you're just in a bigger room now with more people and more snacks. And the old sub's still there whenever you want to nerd out on 7X-specific stuff.

Drop a comment below: tell us what you drive (or what you're eyeing off), which country you're in, and — most importantly — your worst public charging experience. Bonus points for photos.

Welcome aboard.
