Just putting this out there because there’s a lot of misunderstanding.

Most Tamil people today aren’t trying to join India/Tamil Nadu or actively pushing for a separate state. What people actually want is much simpler fair treatment, equal rights, and proper representation within the country, without discrimination or neglect.

The hype around Vijay becoming CM of Tamil Nadu is more fan culture than serious politics, similar to how people back cricket or football teams. It’s admiration, not necessarily policy thinking.

Also, people like MP Archuna seem to get strong support from parts of the diaspora. Sometimes the situation is also talked up abroad in a way that helps asylum cases, but that doesn’t really match what life is like on the ground for people living here.
