I’m staying in Mandavi Emerald, Manipal. Rent is ₹30,000/month and I paid ₹80,000 as a security deposit through a broker. I’m planning to move out soon and don’t expect the deposit to come back easily. Thinking of not paying the last 2 months’ rent and adjusting it from the deposit.

Has anyone done this before? Does it usually work, or can it cause issues (owner refusing, legal trouble, etc.)?

The agreement mentions a notice period, but I want to know what actually happens in practice.

Any advice or experiences would help.
