Bike shut off while riding, now fuse keeps popping

Hi everyone,

I need some help troubleshooting my E Ride Pro SS 2.0. I’m not an electrician, so I’m trying to figure this out step by step.

The bike suddenly shut off while riding in dry conditions and would not turn back on. The battery still showed full charge and the charger seemed to work.

We checked it with a multimeter:

- Battery shows around 81V
- 81V also arrives at the controller
- Key switch seems to work
- Main power side seems okay

At first we thought the controller was dead, so I bought a new controller. But the new controller made no difference.

Then we found a blown small fuse. After replacing the fuse, the bike turned on again and even worked with the old controller. But after about one minute, the fuse blew again.

Yesterday we replaced the fuse again, and this time it blew immediately when turning the key. I also heard a small cracking/sparking sound from the wiring harness area.

So now I think there is probably a short somewhere in the wiring harness, maybe a wire touching the frame/ground, or maybe a bad component in the low-voltage/control circuit.

I’m trying to find out which wire or component is causing the fuse to blow. The bike is dirty and some cable covers/tape look old and brittle. I already checked and moved some connectors, but I’m not sure where to focus.

Has anyone had this issue before?

What would you check first?

Could this be caused by:

- ignition/key switch wiring
- DC-DC converter
- display/power panel
- tilt sensor
- front wiring harness
- light/USB/horn wiring
- a wire shorting to the frame

Any advice for a beginner on how to test this with a multimeter would be really helpful.

Thanks!
