I’ve been going deeper into self hosting lately trying to rely less on third party services, but I’m starting to figure out there is definitely a line somewhere. Right now I’m running things like Jellyfin for media, Nextcloud for files, Pi hole for network wide blocking, and a simple home server for backups. Those all feel worth it so far.

But I’ve tried a few others like email hosting and a password manager setup and it started to feel like more stress than it’s worth. Constant maintenance, worrying about security, making sure everything is always up.
