Well, Reddit, I’ve finally given up on trying to figure this out by myself.

I have very fine, thin, lightweight waves to the point where I can’t dry my hair upside down because when I flip it back over, it immediately loses all of its curl and appears frizzy. I have about six strands of hair in total so I’m sure that doesn’t help.

The problem might be diffusing? I apply my products and then hover until it’s dry, but it almost immediately falls apart and looks stringy when I literally just move. I have to wear zig zag headbands when I leave my hair curly because otherwise the top of my head has a completely different texture to my waves near the base of my neck.

I could really use some product recommendations or advice on how to change how I style it.

(PS sorry the pics are bad 😭 I can take more if anyone wants to see something different)

Routine:

  1. L’oreal EverPure Bond Repair shampoo and conditioner, and I alternate in the L’oreal EverPure Clarify shampoo when I feel like my hair is greasy.
  2. I use Crazy Sexy Curl Honey Setting Foam and an Aussie curling gel that I can’t find online anymore. After it’s dry, I use L’oreal Elvive Glycolic Gloss High Shine Serum (which does not do anything, my hair will not shine).
  3. I usually diffuse my hair or let it air dry.
  4. I wear a bonnet and use a silk pillowcase. I scrunch my hair dry with a microfiber towel and plop it for like three minutes while I’m applying my moisturizer and brushing my teeth. I don’t do a refresh routine because it would just weigh my hair down more.
