I was checking the pre-approval tool for the Capital One Capital One Savor Card just to see what I qualified for — I wasn’t planning to actually apply.
Next thing I know, I get hit with a notification and now I have a Savor card opened with a $300 limit… which I did NOT want.
I thought I was just doing a pre-approval check (like a soft pull), not submitting a real application. There wasn’t a clear “this is a full application” moment for me.
Now I’m worried about:
•A hard inquiry on my credit
•A new account lowering my average age
•Being stuck with a card I didn’t even want
Has this happened to anyone else with Capital One?
What’s the best move here — should I:
•Keep it open?
•Close it right away?
•Call them and try to reverse it?
Appreciate any advice because this caught me completely off guard.
